Slight Dimensional Differences

The paper element height and inner/outer diameters are very close (typically approx. 89mm outer diameter, approx. 110mm height). On some non-OEM filter bases, they may even fit with force, but the OEM housing O-ring and internal grooves have subtle differences.

 Never Use Old Version on New Engines

If your vehicle is a 2015 or later model with a 2.4T/2.8T engine (1GD/2GD), you must never use the old 23390-0L041. The new high-pressure common rail system is extremely sensitive to impurities and moisture in diesel fuel. The old filter element does not meet the required filtration precision and can easily cause expensive injector clogging or damage.

Using New Version on Old Engines Depends on the Base

Some owners use 23390-0L070 on older 1KD models. Since the new filter element offers better filtration performance, some compatible bases allow interchange. However, to be safe, always match strictly according to the vehicle's OEM manual or VIN.
