Product Description
The cylinder head cover, also known as the valve cover, is a critical component that seals the top of your Toyota Camry or RAV4 engine. It encloses the valvetrain components, including the camshafts, rocker arms, and valves, while also serving as the mounting point for the oil filler cap and PCV valve. For the 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine found in the Camry and RAV4, a properly sealed cylinder head cover is essential for maintaining engine oil containment, preventing leaks, and keeping dust and debris out of the valvetrain area. This Toyota OEM part is manufactured to exact factory specifications, ensuring perfect fit and reliable sealing performance. As an original equipment component, it meets Toyota's rigorous quality standards for material composition, dimensional accuracy, and heat resistance, providing the same durability and reliability as the factory-installed part.
Consider replacing your cylinder head cover if you experience any of the following symptoms: Visible oil leaks around the top of the engine or dripping onto the exhaust manifold causing burning oil smell. The valve cover is cracked, warped, or damaged. Oil contamination in the spark plug wells (oil seeping past the spark plug tube seals). Excessive oil consumption without visible leaks elsewhere. The PCV valve or oil filler cap no longer seals properly. The cover shows signs of corrosion or severe heat damage. You are performing a major engine service and the cover needs to be removed – the gasket should also be replaced. Engine oil smell inside the cabin. During a timing chain or valve adjustment service, the cover must be replaced if damaged or if the mounting bolt bosses are stripped. Note: The cylinder head cover itself is a durable metal component that typically does not need replacement unless physically damaged; however, the gasket is a regular maintenance item that should be replaced when oil leaks occur.

Factory Specification Quality – This cover is produced to the exact material and dimensional standards of the original component, ensuring proper fit and sealing performance. Perfect Fit for Your 2AZ-FE Engine – Precisely matched to the 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine in the Camry and RAV4. Direct bolt-on replacement with correct bolt hole alignment and PCV port positioning. Engineered for Heat Resistance – Engine compartments generate extreme heat cycles. This cover is designed with specific aluminum alloy and heat treatment to withstand these conditions without warping or cracking. Restores Proper Sealing – A damaged or warped cover cannot maintain proper gasket compression, leading to persistent oil leaks. This new cover ensures a flat, true sealing surface for leak-free operation. PCV and Filler Cap Compatibility – Precise mounting surfaces for the PCV valve and oil filler cap ensure these components seal correctly, preventing oil vapor leaks and maintaining proper crankcase ventilation. Maintains Engine Cleanliness – A properly sealed valve cover keeps dirt and debris out of the valvetrain, protecting camshafts and valves from premature wear. Long Service Life – Built to Toyota's durability standards, this cover will last the life of your engine under normal conditions.
1 x Cylinder Head Cover (11201-28033). Note: Cylinder head cover gasket is NOT included (order separately). Mounting bolts are NOT included – please reuse original hardware or purchase separately. PCV valve, oil filler cap, and spark plug tube seals are NOT included. This is the bare cylinder head cover only.
Important: Allow the engine to cool completely before installation. Clean the cylinder head sealing surface thoroughly – remove all old gasket material and oil residue. Ensure the new cover and head surface are free of debris. Install a new cylinder head cover gasket – do not reuse the old gasket. Apply a small amount of sealant to the specified areas as per Toyota service manual recommendations. Install the cover and tighten the mounting bolts in a cross-pattern sequence to ensure even compression of the gasket. Torque the bolts to the factory specification. Overtightening can warp the cover or damage the gasket; undertightening will cause oil leaks. Install new spark plug tube seals if they are not integrated into the gasket. Reconnect all hoses, wiring, and components removed during disassembly. Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the cover edges. Recheck bolt torque after the first heat cycle. Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with engine mechanical repairs.
Toyota 2AZ-FE engine owners sometimes encounter cylinder head cover issues: Gasket failure – The rubber gasket hardens and shrinks over time, leading to oil leaks around the cover perimeter – a common issue on higher-mileage 2AZ-FE engines. Spark plug tube seal leaks – Internal seals around the spark plug tubes can fail, allowing oil to pool in the spark plug wells and cause misfires. PCV system clogging – A clogged PCV valve can cause crankcase pressure to build up, forcing oil past the gasket. Over-tightening damage – Previous over-torquing can warp the aluminum cover, preventing proper sealing even with a new gasket. 2AZ-FE specific – Some 2AZ-FE engines are known for higher oil consumption; proper valve cover sealing is essential to maintain correct crankcase pressure. This replacement cover provides a fresh, true sealing surface and the correct dimensional integrity for long-term leak-free performance.
