Product Description
The steering tie rod end is a critical component in your Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX450‘s steering linkage system. As part of the tie rod assembly, this outer tie rod end connects the tie rod to the steering knuckle, transmitting steering input from the steering gear to the front wheel. For the Land Cruiser 80 Series and LX450 – heavy-duty, body-on-frame off-road vehicles – the tie rod ends must withstand the demands of daily driving, rough terrain, towing, and off-road adventures. A properly functioning tie rod end ensures accurate steering response, even tire wear, and stable handling in all driving conditions. A worn or damaged end introduces play into the steering system, leading to vague steering feel, uneven tire wear, and compromised vehicle control.
Consider replacing your steering tie rod end if you experience any of the following symptoms: Excessive play or looseness in the steering wheel. Steering feels vague, unresponsive, or has delayed reaction. Uneven or rapid tire wear on the front tires, especially on the inner or outer edges. Clunking, popping, or knocking noise when turning the steering wheel, especially at low speeds or over bumps. Vehicle wanders or pulls to one side while driving straight, requiring constant steering correction. Poor steering return after turning. Visible damage to the rubber dust boot – cracks, tears, or missing grease. Grease leakage from the ball joint area. Excessive free play detected during front-end inspection. The vehicle feels unstable or darty on uneven roads.

1 x Toyota Genuine Steering Tie Rod End . Complete with ball stud, dust boot, and pre-lubricated with grease. Please confirm position and compatibility with your Land Cruiser 80 Series or LX450 model before purchasing. Mounting hardware and castle nut are NOT included – please reuse original hardware or purchase separately.
Important: The steering system is a critical safety system. Professional installation is strongly recommended. Safely raise the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the passenger side (for LHD vehicles). Mark the position of the tie rod end before removal to maintain alignment. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the tie rod end. Use a ball joint separator/puller tool to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle – never strike the stud with a hammer as this can damage the new part. Count the number of turns required to remove the old end from the tie rod and install the new end with the same number of turns – this provides a baseline for alignment. Install the new tie rod end and tighten the castle nut to Toyota‘s specified torque. Install a new cotter pin and bend it to secure. Critical Step: After installation, a professional wheel alignment (toe adjustment) is MANDATORY to prevent rapid tire wear and ensure safe handling. Professional installation is highly recommended.
